"The Best Investment on Earth is the Earth Itself"
When I began my real estate career, a successful and well respected old rancher came to visit me about listing his ranch. He had farmed and ranched all his life. He had a true love for the land and therefore an inherent interest in real estate. During our conversation he told me that an "Old Timer" (he was 80 at this time) had told him once the best investment on Earth was the Earth itself. I immediately adopted this as my motto and have used it ever since. I truly believe that statement.
Whether it is a 75' x 150' town lot, a 10,000 acre ranch or a 3/2 with a white picket fence; I believe that real estate is the best investment a person can make. It is the only investment that will provide us shelter, security, recreation, relaxation and production; all the while building growth in value and financial returns. Real estate exists in as many forms as sizes as do the people who own it and their reasons for doing so. Some of us are concerned with only the barest necessity of getting a roof over our heads; others are looking for the Hill Country ranch with live water and 20 mile views upon which to build an estate. No matter which end of the spectrum you're on; my belief is that history has proven time and time again that real estate will provide a return. The core of your investment will be there irregardless of economic factors. Its value will rise and sometimes it will fall. If you own it long enough or time things right you will make money. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. Everyday I meet people that accumulated a little property here and there over the years and now suddenly are presented with the potential of financial independence simply because they practiced the statement above.
